At Latino Sole we adhere strictly to all legislation concerning the use of exotic skins.
CITES (The Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna & Flora) is the governing body followed by the developed world. Roughly 5,000 species of animals & 28,000 species of plants are protected by CITES against over exploitation through International trade.
CITES regulations apply to Latino Sole in our use of python, alligator, crocodile & lizard skins. Our skins are from licensed farms mainly in South America. A CITES license follows from the farm source, to our manufacturers in Brazil to an approved CITES import licence to the UK.
We take particular care in describing our products – when we say ‘python effect leather’ it is just that. Real python skin is clearly described as such & the use has been approved by CITES
